Chi Mei today announced six of its Chimei-brand widescreen LCD monitors, including 19- and 22-inch models, received certification for the Windows Vista operating system (OS). Chi Mei is set to launch more widescreen LCD monitors before the end of February, according to the company. Chi Mei will offer a new widescreen 22-inch LCD monitor with built-in HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital-content Copy Protection) in April.
CHIMEI, the leading domestic brand for LCD panels and products, announced that six of its widescreen flat-panel displays passed Microsoft Corp’s Vista Basic and Vista Premium certifications. More models are expected to pass Vista certifications by the end of February, making CHIMEI the brand in Taiwan with the most models passing Vista certifications.
The six Vista-certified models mainly are in the 19- and 22-inch ranges. Models passing Vista Basic certification include theCMV938A, the CMV946A and the CMV221A. Those passing Vista Premium certification include the CMV938D, the CMV946D and the CMV221D. Requirements for Vista Premium certification include high-quality picture color with zero color washout, full compliance in terms of circuit environment and inputs for DVI equipment.
According to CHIMEI, the company used grade-A panels and CHIMEI’s exclusive Natural Color technology to make adjustments based on the color and optical characteristics of its LCD screens. This resulted in exquisite display and saturated color in some award-winning 19-inch widescreen models: the CMV946D and the CMV946A, which were honored with the IF Design Award and the Red Dot Award in Germany and the Taiwan Excellence Awards. To let users enjoy a more real and vivid audio-visual experience, other features of these models include: widescreen at the golden aspect ratio of 16:10, high contrast at 650:1 and high resolution meeting the 1440 x 900 pixel WXGA (Wide XGA) standard.
The CHIMEI 22-inch range has always been a bestseller. In addition to the ability to display two complete A4-sized pages simultaneously and the ability to display multiple windows to reduce screen switching, these lightweight and slim models are equipped with Fast Response Time technology to eliminate display delays. These screens also operate in bright, word-processing and energy-saving modes, allowing use of the products in different situations. An OSD menu button on the right hand side of the panel allows easy access and operation, and a protective cover in the rear section provides easy cable storage.
In the future, in addition to meeting Vista certifications, all new widescreen models from CHIMEI will be equipped with HDCP (High-definition Digital-content Copy Protection) to eliminate blurred display of high-definition video and to prevent copying of high-definition digital content. CHIMEI will introduce new 22-inch models equipped with this feature in April.
